Hoxton Park Reserve Landcare Volunteering
May 25, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
Come get your hands dirty (not really, you’ll be wearing gloves!) at Hoxton Park Reserve where we’ll be helping rid the reserve of the troublesome mother-of-millions succulent weed. The local council has identified that this park has a serious problem with this weed and would very much appreciate our help ridding the reserve of it.
This is a great opportunity to roll up your sleeves to help our local environment and have fun doing so. We’ll be accompanied by representatives of the local council and the Greater Sydney Landcare Network, and they’ll also teach us a bit about the local environment.
What to expect
The Greater Sydney Landcare Network representative and local council representative will teach us how to ID the mother-of-millions weed, and then we’ll get straight into it either hand pulling the weeds or treating them with herbicide. We expect it will be around 4 hours of work, depending on numbers.
All equipment will be provided, so just come dressed sunsmart in something you’re happy to get dirty.
Hoxton Park Reserve is further out than we usually go for our events, but this is where they need the help.
Two people have already volunteered to car pool, happy to pick people up from Ashfield Station, Casula Station or Holsworthy Station. If you’d like to take them up on that offer, please ask April about availability on 0497 863 786.
If those locations don’t work for you, you can either drive yourself (please feel free to volunteer have others carpool with you if you are!) or catch public transport.
